Dr. Frankel is an economic theorist with primary interests in finance and macroeconomics. His research areas include stock market crashes, crises, business cycles, bailouts, banking competition, securitization, liquidity, public offerings, and corporate capital structure. His research has appeared in leading economics and finance journals such as Econometrica, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Review of Economic Studies, the Review of Financial Studies, and the Journal of Economic Theory.
Dr. Frankel is a Professor at Melbourne Business School and has taught at Cornell, Stanford, Tel Aviv University, and Iowa State University. He received his Ph.D. at M.I.T., his M.Sc. at Oxford where he was a Marshall Scholar, and his A.B. at Harvard.
Dr. Frankel is Managing Director of Pelham Associates, a private management consulting and legal support firm in Melbourne. At the time of its launch in 2020, Pelham Associates featured 23 practising academics in the areas of business, economics, law, and finance.
